Scientific Research Achievements of Our University Contribute to The Construction of Overseas Units “Hualong One”

On April 18th, our national innovative achievement of third generation pressurized water reactor nuclear power “Hualong One” (the fourth unit worldwide and the second unit overseas), Pakistan Karachi K3 unit, was authorized the provisional acceptance. So far, K2 and K3 units of the first overseas project “Hualong One” have been fully completed and put into operation. Through the in-depth industry-university-research collaboration, the scientific research team of nuclear power pumps in our university participated in the localization of important Nuclear-Grade pumps in this project. They provided technical support for the manufacturing enterprises of nuclear power pumps and contributed to the “Hualong One” going abroad.

In order to meet the major needs of national nuclear power and in response to the national "the Belt and Road" initiative, our nuclear power pump scientific research team has established a test platform for nuclear power pumps, such as high temperature and pressure test bench, hydraulic model four quadrant full-characteristic test bench and etc. A joint laboratory was built for intelligent diagnosis and operation of nuclear power pumps and devices with China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd., and cooperation was reached with many domestic nuclear power pump manufacturers for a long time. Our team presided over and participated in the domestic research and development task of critical nuclear power pumps, such as nuclear main pump, auxiliary feedwater electric pump, charging pump, seawater circulation pump, front storage tank pump, degassing tower drain pump and spent fuel cooling pump, which were all successfully applied in “Hualong One” unit.

During the installation and commissioning phase of power plant equipment, the team assisted the site to successfully solve the vibration problems of auxiliary feedwater electric pumps and other equipment, provided technical support for the construction of nuclear power unit reactor criticality and grid-connected power generation projects. Our contribution was highly recognized by relevant companies such as China Zhongyuan Engineering Corp. Our team devoted their “power of UJS” to the high-quality development of national nuclear power industry.
