Introduction
Research Center of Fluid Machinery Engineering and Technology of Jiangsu University is an independent full-time scientific research institution relying on the state key discipline of Fluid Machinery and Engineering, which was also National Research Center of Pumps and International Joint Research Center for National Energy-saving Technology of Fluid Engineering Equipment.
The center has a capable teaching staff with more than 70 faculty members, including 2 specially-appointed academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, 20 doctoral supervisors, 20 professors (researchers), 26 associate professors (associate researchers), 1 winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 1 winner of the Bearer of Red Flag March 8, 3 distinguished professors of Jiangsu Province, 1 innovative and entrepreneurial talent of Jiangsu Province, etc. The disciplinary team has successively been appraised as the outstanding discipline echelon and S&T innovation team of "Blue Project" in Jiangsu Province, the outstanding scientific and technological innovation team in Jiangsu Provincial high schools, and the high-level talent innovation team of "Six Talent Peaks" in Jiangsu Province.
The center is the industry technology focal point and has nationally validated laboratories. It has several full-time testing institutions, including Quality Inspection Supervision Center of Mechanical Industry Drainage and Irrigation Machinery Product, Jiangsu Quality and Technical Supervision Pump Quality Inspection Station, etc. At present, the total area of the laboratory is 13,000 square meters. It has domestic first-class and international advanced fluid machinery and engineering test conditions and equipments, which is in a leading position among universities of similar disciplines in the country.
Since its establishment, the center has set the direction of serving the country's economic construction, systematically researched and developed key and fundamental issues on national key projects and pumps for major equipment, and continuously provided the industry with new technologies, new products and new processes adapted to large-scale production. Over the years, the center has won 5 national science and technology progress awards, authorized more than 80 invention patents, and published more than 70 works.
After more than 50 years of construction and development, the center has formed research directions with obvious characteristics, outstanding advantages and broad development prospects:
· Research on Fluid Machinery (Pumps), Mechanical Characteristics of Chemical Processes and Modern Design Methods
· Research on Unstable Flow Characteristics in Fluid Machinery and Modern Testing Technology
· Research on New Water-saving and Energy-saving Irrigation Technology and Equipment
· Research on Hydraulic Model and Characteristics of Pumps and Devices for Large Hydraulic Engineering
· Research on Key Technologies of Pumping Station Engineering and Hydraulic and Hydropower Engineering
· Research in the Field of Biomedical Engineering (including artificial heart pumps, heart valves, etc.)
International Academic Communication
In recent years, the center has conducted graduate joint training and scientific research cooperation with more than 10 internationally renowned universities, including Università degli Studi di Padova, University of Duisburg-Essen, University of Pisa, Arts et Métiers Paris Tech, Texas A&M University, etc. More than 20 well-known foreign professors have been hired as part-time professors in the center, and teachers and students of the center have participated in more than 120 international academic conferences. The center has invited well-known foreign professors to provide courses for graduates more than 10 times, and 5 courses have been included in the postgraduate training program. The center has hosted and co-organized more than 10 international academic conferences and forums.
