Recently, the 2024 Strategic Symposium on Hydraulic Machinery Development and the 14th National Conference on Hydraulic Machinery and Systems were successfully held at Xi’an University of Technology. The conference brought together over 450 professors, experts, and representatives from nearly 60 institutions, including renowned universities and enterprises both domestic and international, to share and discuss the latest academic research findings and engineering practices in the field of hydraulic machinery and systems. More than 20 representatives, including Professors Yuan Shouqi, Zhang Desheng, and Yuan Jianping from Jiangsu University National Research Center of Pumps, attended the event.

As the Conference Chair, Professor Yuan Shouqi delivered a speech during the opening ceremony. He commended Xi’an University of Technology for its meticulous preparation and highlighted the importance of the event in providing a high-level academic interaction platform for experts, scholars, and industry representatives. He emphasized that the conference showcases cutting-edge achievements in the national hydraulic machinery sector and plays a significant strategic role in advancing the transformation and development of the discipline within the context of China's "dual carbon" strategy.

During the conference, 14 distinguished invited speakers from prominent universities and enterprises delivered keynote presentations, sharing their teams' academic research and engineering achievements. Professor Pei Ji from Jiangsu University presented an invited report titled "Regulation of Unsteady Flows and Intelligent Optimization Design for High-Performance Pumps." Additionally, over 150 representatives from universities, enterprises, and research institutes participated in academic discussions and technical exchanges across seven thematic areas, including the optimization design of hydraulic machinery, the design and operation of impulse hydro turbines, variable-speed pumped storage units, multiphase flows and erosion in hydraulic machinery, numerical simulation and testing of hydraulic machinery, and interdisciplinary topics.

The closing ceremony was chaired by Professor Zhang Desheng from Jiangsu University. Co-Chair of the conference, Professor Luo Xingqi from Xi’an University of Technology, delivered the summary speech and announced that the 15th National Conference on Hydraulic Machinery and Systems and its associated strategic symposium would be held in Wuhan in 2025.

The Strategic Symposium on Hydraulic Machinery Development and the National Conference on Hydraulic Machinery and Systems have been held for several sessions and are highly influential within the hydraulic machinery field in China. The successful hosting of this conference has had a positive impact on the development of the fluid machinery and engineering discipline at Jiangsu University, significantly enhancing its academic research and exchange capabilities.
