Smart Pumps and Irrigation Equipment and Technology: Sub-Forum of the CSAM Drainage and Irrigation Machinery Branch Successfully Held in Nanjing

From November 7 to 10, 2025, the Academic Annual Conference of the Chinese Society for Agricultural Machinery (CSAM) was held in Nanjing under the theme Empowering the Innovative Development of Modern Agricultural Equipment with Intelligent and Green Technologies. To further enhance academic exchange and promote the development of pump and irrigation equipment and technology, industry–academia–research collaboration, and high-quality industrial growth, the “Smart Pumps and Irrigation Equipment and Technology” sub-forum, led by the CSAM Drainage and Irrigation Machinery Branch, was successfully convened at Nanjing Agricultural University on November 9.

The forum was jointly organized by the CSAM Drainage and Irrigation Machinery Branch, Jiangsu University, the Jiangsu Provincial Strategic Alliance for Technological Innovation in Advanced Fluid Engineering Equipment, the Jiangsu Provincial Strategic Alliance for Technological Innovation in New Water-Saving Irrigation Equipment, and the Drainage and Irrigation Machinery Branch of the China Agricultural Machinery Industry Association. It received strong support from Jiangsu Yuanquan Pump Co., Ltd., Zhongyu Hose Technology Co., Ltd., Haicheng Sanyu Pump Co., Ltd., and Shimge Pump Industry (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd.

The event was co-chaired by Researcher Yuan Jianping, Director of the Fluid Center at Jiangsu University, and Professor Peng Guangjie, Deputy Director of the Center. Experts and scholars from across the country gathered to conduct in-depth exchanges on cutting-edge developments and innovation pathways in smart pumps and drainage and irrigation machinery.

The forum specially invited Researcher Yuan Shouqi, former Party Secretary of Jiangsu University, Director of the National Research Center of Pumps, and Chair of the CSAM Drainage and Irrigation Machinery Branch, to attend and deliver opening remarks. He extended a warm welcome to all experts and enterprise representatives and expressed sincere appreciation to all sectors of society for their longstanding support of Jiangsu University and the Branch. Drawing on more than 40 years of research in agricultural drainage and irrigation technologies, Yuan Shouqi noted the broad prospects of the drainage and irrigation equipment industry. He pointed out that drainage and irrigation systems are currently at a critical stage of upgrading from mechanization and automation to digitalization and intelligence, with urgent demand for technological iteration and model innovation. He emphasized that this forum is committed to building a high-end platform for collaborative innovation among industry, academia and research institutions, driving technological breakthroughs through academic discussion, integrating resources to support industrial upgrading, and pooling wisdom and strength to advance the industry’s digital transformation and high-quality, sustainable development.

The forum featured six thematic presentations, covering a range of hot topics such as integrated water–fertilizer technology and equipment, intelligent low-carbon technologies for pumps and pumping stations, green design of agricultural hoses, pump group control systems, smart irrigation pump systems, and smart irrigation technologies and equipment. These reports showcased the latest scientific advances and engineering practices in related fields. Distinguished speakers included Professor Li Hong, Vice President of Jiangsu University; Zhou Shibo, Deputy General Manager of Jiangsu Yuanquan Pump Co., Ltd.; Xu Qingzhong, Executive Vice Dean and Strategic Director of Zhongyu Hose Technology Co., Ltd.; Li Xuliang, Deputy General Manager of Haicheng Sanyu Pump Co., Ltd.; Senior Engineer Ge Jie, Vice President of Shimge Pump Industry (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd.; and Associate Professor Gu Zhe from Hohai University. They delivered insightful presentations on topics such as “Research Progress on Integrated Water–Fertilizer Technology and Equipment,” “Research and Practical Application of Intelligent Low-Carbon Technologies for Pumps and Pumping Stations,” “Green Design Technologies and Sustainable Manufacturing Practices for Agricultural Hoses,” “High-Efficiency Pump Group Control Systems Based on Intelligent Control,” “Shimge Smart Irrigation Pump Sets and Systems,” and “Smart Irrigation Technologies and Equipment for Paddy Fields.”

As an important component of the 2025 CSAM Academic Annual Conference sub-sessions, the successful convening of this forum not only provided an efficient platform for technical exchange and cooperation within the industry, but also injected new momentum into the digital and intelligent development of smart pumps and irrigation and drainage equipment. At the same time, the forum fully demonstrated the leading role of the CSAM Drainage and Irrigation Machinery Branch in integrating industry resources and fostering a collaborative innovation ecosystem among industry, academia and research institutions, highlighting its commitment to driving technological transformation and promoting high-quality upgrading in the drainage and irrigation machinery sector.
