National Publishing fund project ‘fire monitor theory and design’ published

Few days ago, the first book of ‘Pump and System Theory and Key Technology Series’, theory and design of fire monitor, edited by Shouqi Yuan, director of national water pump and system engineering technology research center and Secretary of CPC Committee, was published in Jiangsu University Press.

Aiming at the internal flow phenomena of the fire monitor, such as the three-dimensional swirling flow in the continuous elbow, the straightening flow in the rectifying raceway, the turbulent flow in the shrinking nozzle, the occurrence and development law of the secondary flow, the uniformity of the main flow velocity distribution and the conversion of the pressure energy into the velocity energy in the nozzle are studied in this book by using the numerical methods of Reynolds time averaged RANS and LES. Particle image velocimetry (PIV) is employed to verify the accuracy of the numerical simulation, and the rectifier performance of different types of rectifiers under various conditions is analyzed by using a variety of comparison schemes and orthogonal test methods. Theoretical analysis and quantitative comparative study revealed a comprehensive evaluation criteria of fire monitor performance design covering four aspects of size economy, flow field uniformity, flow continuity and jet stability which are established for the first time, and the optimal structure forms of flow passage components such as gun seat, gun tube, rectifier and nozzle are also determined. This book explicitly studies and analyzes the external jet characteristics and performance parameters of the fire monitor through the solid product and scale model test of the fire monitor, and puts forward the empirical calculation formula of the fire monitor's range and height, the optimal jet elevation angle, and the jet characteristics parameters of the fire monitor, such as jet trajectory and water drop distribution.
