On April 25, the official website of Russian Academy of Engineering announced the list of new academicians. Yuan Shouqi, Secretary of the Party Committee of Jiangsu university, was elected as a foreign academician of Russian Academy of engineering. Recently, Prof. B.V. Gusev, president of Russian Academy of Engineering, sent a letter congratulating him on his election. Prof. B.V. Gusev anticipated that Yuan would carry out creative and fruitful cooperation on science and technology for the sustainable development of China and Russia.
Yuan Shouqi has long been engaged in scientific research in the field of drainage and irrigation machinery and fluid machinery engineering, and has presided over and completed more than 30 projects such as the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Key Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, National 863 Project and National Science and Technology Support Program. He has won 2 second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 2 second prizes of the National Teaching Achievement Award, 5 first prizes at the provincial and ministerial levels, 2 PCT patents in the United States and 98 invention patents in China. He has published more than 300 papers and 13 works as the first or corresponding author. As the discipline leader, Yuan Shouqi established the China’s National Research Center of Pumps (NRCP), National Center for International Research and Advanced Technology for High-end Fluid Machinery Overseas Expertise Introduction Center for Discipline Innovation (‘111 Center’). He has long served as vice president of China Agricultural Machinery Society and China Agricultural Engineering Society. He also served as a member of the Organizing Committee of ASME Fluid Engineering Branch and a member of Asian Fluid Machinery Committee. As the president of the conference, he presided over more than 10 high-level international academic conferences. He is the winner of the Science and Technology Innovation Award of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and the He Liang He Li Fond, and he also enjoys the special government allowance of the State Council.
Russian Academy of Engineering was founded in 1990. Its founding units include but not limited to Russian Academy of Sciences, Russian Ministry of Science and Industry, Russian Ministry of Defense and Russian Aerospace Administration. The Russian Academy of Engineering is a scientific institution with significant international academic influence.
