Recently, the Secretariat of the International Eni Award Scientific Committee confirmed that the research achievement "Transient characteristics of PAT in micro pumped hydro energy storage during abnormal shutdown process," published in the leading international energy journal Renewable Energy (IF=8.7) with Jiangsu University as the primary institution, has been nominated for the International Eni Award, becoming one of the candidates for this award in 2024. Wang Wenjie is the first author of the paper, with Pei Ji and Yuan Shouqi serving as corresponding authors.

The paper innovatively develops a micro variable-speed reversible pump turbine device targeted at the water power storage equipment needs of distributed zero-carbon multi-energy microgrid systems. It establishes a high-precision numerical calculation model for the complex transition process of the unit, revealing the transient flow evolution law inside the reversible pump under sudden change conditions, and providing a theoretical foundation for the stability design of the device.

It is known that the International Eni Award, established by the Italian multinational oil and gas giant company Eni in 2007, aims to promote research related to sustainable energy and the environment, advance the development of energy technologies, and encourage energy transformation. It is one of the most authoritative and prestigious awards in the global energy field. The award's scientific committee primarily consists of members from top global universities such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, and the University of Cambridge. Most of the awardees come from countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy, including three Nobel Prize laureates.
