The Fluid Center Hosts the Second Youth Academic Salon of the Jiangsu Agricultural Society
On May 20, the second Youth Academic Salon of the Jiangsu Agricultural Society was held at Jiangsu University. The salon was initiated by Associate Researcher Tang Lingdi from the Research Center of Fluid Machinery Engineering and Technology, a recipient of the 2023 Jiangsu Youth Talent Lift Project grant. The event was attended by Yu Xiang, Deputy Secretary-General of the Jiangsu Agricultural Society; Jiang Yanfang, Office Director; and Professor Zhang Jinfeng, Deputy Secretary and Deputy Director of the Fluid Center at Jiangsu University. Eleven young scholars from agricultural universities and research institutes across the province participated in the event.
In his opening remarks, Yu Xiang stated that according to the relevant requirements of the 2024 National Science and Technology Week by the Jiangsu Agricultural Society, and taking the opportunity of the Youth Talent Lift Project grant, it is hoped that more young scholars will be encouraged to innovate in the field of agriculture and make greater efforts and contributions to the sustainable development of agriculture in our province.
Zhang Jinfeng, in her address, emphasized that young scholars have become the main force in smart agriculture. She expressed hope that with the collective efforts of young colleagues, further breakthroughs in critical technologies in the agricultural sector would be accelerated, advancing the development of national smart agriculture.
Associate Researcher Tang Lingdi presented a report titled "Key Technologies and Industrialization of High-Performance Intelligent Irrigation Systems"; Associate Professor Gu Zhe from Hohai University presented on "Research and Development of Smart Irrigation and Drainage Systems for Farmland"; Associate Professor Gu Yandong from Yangzhou University discussed "Hydraulic Design and Oscillation Characteristics of Multi-Stage Centrifugal Pumps with Floating Impellers"; Professor Ye Daoxing from Xihua University elaborated on "Key Technologies and Application Demonstrations of Manure Pumping Systems for Livestock"; Professor Su Xianghui from Zhejiang Sci-Tech University reported on "Hydraulic Harvesting Technology for Aquatic Shellfish"; Associate Professor Gao Zhenjun from Three Gorges University gave a talk on "Simulation of Thermal and Humidity Environment in Solar Greenhouses and Optimization of Building Parameters"; Associate Professor Gao Kun from Jiangsu University of Science and Technology discussed "Molecular Mechanisms of Bombyx mori Cytoplasmic Polyhedrosis Virus Infection"; Associate Professor You Shuai from Jiangsu University of Science and Technology presented on "Molecular Improvement and Application of Glucose Oxidase"; and Associate Professor Li Peng from the Farmland Irrigation Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences reported on "Aerated Drip Irrigation Technology and Its Impact on Drip Irrigation System Performance". Associate Researchers Mao Nini and Ren Junpeng from Zhenjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences also participated in the discussion. The reports from the young scholars, covering various angles and levels, provided insightful introductions to innovative technologies and application cases in agricultural modernization and intelligence, resonating strongly with the audience and receiving enthusiastic applause.
The successful hosting of this Youth Academic Salon not only facilitated in-depth exchanges of the latest research achievements among young scholars but also enhanced cooperation between universities and research institutes, fostering deeper friendships and contributing collectively to the modernization of agriculture and rural areas in our province.
