On April 21, the national exchange conference on "High-Quality Party Building Leading High-Quality Development of Tribology" was held in Qinhuangdao. Party branch secretaries and teacher representatives from 13 universities, including Tsinghua University and Northwestern Polytechnical University, attended the meeting. Participants included Gu Kali, Secretary General of the Tribology Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES); Zhang Hua, Deputy Director of the Party and Mass Work Department of CMES; Zhou Feng, Director of the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Tan Guibin, Director of the Tribology Branch of CMES; and Xie Guoxin, Chairman of the Youth Forum Organizing Committee of the Tribology Branch of CMES. The meeting was presided over by Chan Jia, Party Secretary of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Yanshan University. Chen Si, Party Secretary of the Major Fluid Equipment Project Platform Party Branch from the Fluid Center, was invited to participate and deliver a report.
Guided by the Tribology Branch of CMES, the conference aimed to strengthen the role of party building in leading the development of the tribology field, implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, explore new initiatives for building party branches in universities and research institutes, and effectively enhance the political, organizational, service, cohesion, and combat capabilities of party branches in tackling major key core technologies. Party branch secretaries or party member representatives from 13 organizations, including the Tribology Institute Party Branch of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tsinghua University, the third Party Branch of the State Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication at the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Tribology Party Branch of the School of Mechanical Engineering at Southwest Jiaotong University, the Mechanical Engineering Party Branch of the School of Mechanical Engineering at Yanshan University, and the Major Fluid Equipment Project Platform Party Branch of the Fluid Center, conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as party building leading industry development, party building promoting major scientific and technological breakthroughs and rapid industrialization of achievements, and party building supporting faculty development and innovative talent cultivation. They actively exchanged ideas on increasing party member participation in branch activities, deepening the integration of party building with business operations, and innovating party building work forms, providing replicable and operable organizational models and work solutions for grassroots party building in similar institutions and research institutes.
Starting from promoting the spirit of scientists, Chen Si emphasized the achievements of the Fluid Center in ensuring high-quality development through party building. Over the past 60 years, several generations of fluid engineers, guided by the major needs of the national fluid engineering equipment sector, have carried out research and development of new products and technologies focused on key, common, and fundamental technologies in the pump industry. This has cultivated a group of high-level doctoral and master's talents urgently needed in the industry, promoted the integration of party building with development goals, teaching and research, and the growth and success of faculty and students, thereby contributing fluid engineering wisdom to the high-level technological self-reliance and self-improvement in the field of fluid engineering equipment in China.
