From August 16 to 18, 2024, Li Hongbo, Secretary of the Party Committee of Jiangsu University, led a delegation to investigate key industry units, including Jiangsu University Wenling Research Institute of Fluid Machinery, National Center for Quality Inspection & Testing of Pump Products (Zhejiang), Leo Pump Industry (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd., Shimge Pump Industry (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd., Wenling Industry Brain Company, and Zhejiang Sea & Sky Machinery Co., Ltd. The purpose was to promote the deep integration of Party building with industry, thereby empowering the development of "new quality productivity" in Wenling's pump and motor sector. Attendees included former Party Secretary Yuan Shouqi, Vice Presidents Li Hong and Yang Daojian, former Vice President Quan Li, Director of the Industry-University-Research Office Wang Shaohua, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Department Li Jun, and Zhang Desheng, Party Secretary of the Fluid Center. They were accompanied by Ma Licai, Deputy Secretary of the Wenling Municipal Committee and Mayor, as well as Liang Haitao, Vice Mayor of Wenling.

On August 16, an innovation cooperation exchange meeting was convened between the Wenling municipal government and the Jiangsu University delegation. Vice Mayor Liang Haitao discussed the current status and unique advantages of the pump and motor industry in Wenling in relation to the city's industrial development. Vice President Li Hong presented Jiangsu University's achievements in scientific and technological innovation, particularly in leading technologies and research outcomes in the field of fluid machinery. The meeting also featured a work report from the Jiangsu University Wenling Research Institute of Fluid Machinery. Serving as a bridge for collaboration, the institute has achieved significant results in technology transfer, talent cultivation, and project incubation, providing robust technical support for the transformation and upgrading of Wenling's pump and motor industry. Representatives from both delegations engaged in enthusiastic and in-depth discussions on technological innovation, industry upgrading, and talent training within the pump and motor industry chain. Professor Yuan Shouqi and Jin Peizhi, Director of the Wenling Science and Technology Bureau, reviewed the construction history, operational achievements, and future plans of Jiangsu University Wenling Research Institute of Fluid Machinery, offering suggestions and expectations for its future development.

Mayor Ma Licai acknowledged the accomplishments of the long-term innovative collaboration between the two parties. He noted that after four years of development, Jiangsu University Wenling Research Institute of Fluid Machinery has achieved substantial and phased results. The institute has made new advancements in technology breakthroughs, industry leadership, and talent cultivation, assisting local pump and motor enterprises in solving numerous technical challenges and enhancing their industry power, while cultivating a significant number of skilled talents. Mayor Ma emphasized the need to deepen the construction of a "large platform" for the integration of industry and research, to better understand the innovation needs of small and medium-sized enterprises, and to promote the translation of more technological achievements in Wenling. He also highlighted the importance of nurturing a "reservoir" for scientific talent and expressed hope for establishing a talent exchange mechanism that aligns with the characteristics and needs of Wenling's industrial development, thereby cultivating more "high-end" talents for enterprises. Furthermore, he called for a renewed chapter in school-local cooperation, advocating for the expansion of collaborative areas and the deepening of cooperative levels. Wenling is committed to fulfilling its responsibilities in the cooperative construction with Jiangsu University, providing top-quality services and creating an optimal environment for collaboration.

Li Hongbo expressed that the Wenling Municipal Committee and government place great importance on the development of the real economy and have high expectations for the conversion of research outcomes from the institute, further strengthening Jiangsu University's confidence in deepening cooperation with Wenling. He noted that the fluid machinery engineering discipline, as a distinctive advantage of Jiangsu University, will continue to focus on cutting-edge technologies and key common challenges in the pump and motor field, providing robust technological support for Wenling's industrial development. He encouraged to strengthen research project alignment, deepen talent training and exchanges, and expand collaborative areas, thereby opening a new chapter in school-local cooperation.

During the investigation, Secretary Li Hongbo and his delegation also participated in a joint Party-building event titled "Pump and Valve Industry Chain Party Building Alliance: Empowering the Development of New Quality Productivity in Wenling," organized by the Party Committee of the Research Center of Fluid Machinery Engineering and Technology of Jiangsu University, the Party branch of the Wenling Pump and Motor Association, and the Party branch of the Wenling Market Supervision Bureau Quality Inspection Institute.

The first agenda item focused on studying the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. Key speeches were made by Xu Mintian, President of the Wenling Pump and Motor Association and Chairman of Shimge Pump Industry, Jin Shibin, Director of National Center for Quality Inspection & Testing of Pump Products (Zhejiang), and Lin Renyong, Secretary of the Party branch of Leo Pump Industry. Participants emphasized the need to closely align the Party's latest policies and guidelines with their actual work, leveraging Party building to promote industrial innovation and development. Yuan Shouqi, as Chairman of Asian Fluid Machinery Committee and Director of National Research Center of Pumps, analyzed the challenges, opportunities, and development paths faced by private pump enterprises in China from an international perspective. Vice President Li Hong of Jiangsu University highlighted the university's contributions to the development of the pump industry and emphasized the importance of industry-university-research cooperation in promoting local industrial development.

The Party Committee of the Fluid Center of Jiangsu University and representatives from the pump and valve Party-building alliance units signed the "Implementation Plan for Deepening the Party-Building Alliance," marking new progress since the establishment of the alliance in May of last year. Over the past year, the Fluid Center's Party Committee has positioned itself at the forefront of the industry, building Party branches within enterprises and leveraging the alliance's role as a bridge to create a new model of "Party Building & Innovation" that leads, shares resources, and fosters win-win development, thereby providing a new path for the development of new quality productivity in the pump and valve industry.

Finally, Zhao Shanshui, Executive Vice President of the China Agricultural Machinery Industry Association, emphasized the important role of Party building in local economic and private enterprise development while introducing the association's relevant work. Secretary Li Hongbo concluded the meeting by underscoring the significant role of university technological innovation in local development, expressing hope for further strengthening cooperation between Jiangsu University and Wenling City. He proposed focusing on technological innovation to establish a world center for the pump industry, strengthening the construction of the industrial chain Party-building alliance to lead the development of the pump and valve industry, and targeting the new demands of the pump and valve industry in the new era to cultivate top innovative talents. Building on the solid foundation of prior cooperation, he advocated for the expansion of collaborative areas to jointly promote local industrial innovation and development.

Following the Party-building event, a strategic cooperation signing ceremony between Jiangsu University and Zhejiang Sea & Sky Machinery Co., Ltd. took place. This marks Jiangsu University's first cooperative project in the agricultural machinery sector in Wenling, further expanding its collaboration in the area of industry-university-research cooperation.

The series of activities during the Wenling City-Jiangsu University Innovation Cooperation Exchange Meeting concluded successfully, further strengthening the alignment of needs between the two parties and injecting new momentum and vitality into future cooperation.
