On June 6, the double doctorate dissertation defense meeting of postgraduate Shi Lei, who jointly educated by ENSAM and JSU, was held at China’s National Research Center of Pumps. Shi Lei was the double doctorate candidate tutored by Prof. Zhang Desheng of the fluid center and international famous cavitation expert Prof. Olivier Coutier-Delgosha.

On Dec. 16, 2021, Dr. Shi Lei passed through the Doctoral Dissertation Defense in ENSAM, and received doctorate in France. The Defense Committee consists of Prof. Moble Benedict of Texas A&M University, Prof. Jacques-André Astolfi of French Naval Academy, Prof. Jean-Luc Estivalèzes of l'Institut de mécanique des fluides de Toulouse, Prof. Olivier Coutier-Delgosha of ENSAM, Prof. ‪Antoine Ducoin of École Centrale Nantes, Prof. ‪Annie-Claude Bayeul-Lainé of ENSAM, Prof. Céline Gabillet of French Naval Academy and Prof. Pierre-Luc Delafin of Université Grenoble Alpes. At the defense meeting, Shi Lei gave a report on his doctoral dissertation “Numerical study of cycloidal propellers: Analysis of unsteady vortical flows and optimization”, which was unanimously recognized by the experts of the Defense Committee. The transition characteristics of the reverse oscillating wing surface are clarified, and the mechanism of flow-induced behavior changes of the cycloid propeller under different parameters and conditions is revealed. Relevant achievements were published in well-known international journals, such as Energy Conversion and Management, Ocean Engineering, Journal of Fluids and Structures, European Journal of Mechanics B-Fluids and Applied Mathematical Modelling, etc.

Besides, it is worth mentioning that Dr. Zhang Guangjian was the first double doctorate receiver of ENSAM and JSU, whose supervisor was Prof. Olivier Coutier-Delgosha of ENSAM and Prof. Shi Weidong and Prof. Zhang Desheng of JSU.

It is reported that Shi Lei and Zhang Guangjian were both subsidized by CSC National Construction of High-level University Public Graduate Project. ENSAM of ParisTech and JSU have always maintained close cooperation and made important progress in international project cooperation, scientific research and personnel training. Up till now, a total of 5 doctors have obtained double doctorates, which has improved the effectiveness of our high-level international talent training and further expanded the international influence of fluid machinery.
