From May 16th to 24th, at the invitation of Professor Pei Ji from the Fluid Center, Professor Giorgio Pavesi, a part-time professor at Jiangsu University and a professor at the University of Padua, Italy, and Ms. Ludovica Lembo, the Secretary of International Affairs of the School of Industrial Engineering, visited our university. It is the first time that foreign experts visit the National Research Center of Pumps since the COVID-19 prevention and control.
Professor Pavesi taught a professional English course "Design and Optimization of Pumps" for graduate students of the Fluid Center, covering modern three-dimensional design and optimization methods of pumps from similarity theory to optimization algorithms. During his stay at the university, Professor Pavesi visited the laboratory of the National Research Center of Pumps and fully affirmed the large-scale pump test benches, such as the hydraulic four-quadrant test bench and the high-temperature high-pressure test bench, which have been built in recent years. He suggested that both sides should jointly apply for bilateral scientific research cooperation projects based on this foundation.
Professor Pavesi and his delegation also had in-depth exchanges with the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of our university, introduced the relevant situation of our graduate students studying at the University of Padua, put forward valuable suggestions for the joint training program of graduate students between the two universities, and discussed the possibility of establishing a dual master's degree program. Professor Pavesi and his delegation were also invited to visit the editorial office of Journal of Drainage and Irrigation Machinery Engineering. As an international editorial board member of the journal, Professor Pavesi highly appreciated the achievements of the journal and made suggestions for its internationalization work.
